Real estate can be a brutally egocentric industry — full of people chasing their own numbers instead of genuinely serving the people in front of them. For a long time that’s given the industry a bad name with the public. That’s shifting, though, as more agents realise authentic engagement and real professionalism are what actually build a career.

Below is what I call the Awesome Human Manifesto — a set of principles for living and working at the awesome level instead of the average one.

1. Stay humble, stay grounded

Someone will always be smarter, sharper or more successful than you in some way — get over it. You’re not defined by your ego; you’re defined by how you carry yourself without it. The “what’s in it for me” era is over. It’s we, not me.

Feeling this one? You don’t have to figure it out alone — book a free High Performance Call and let’s talk through where you’re at.

2. Choose positivity, daily

Positive energy is contagious — so spread it deliberately. If you want a culture to shift, fill it with positive people. If you want productivity to lift, bring enthusiasm into the room. Change your energy and you change what’s possible around you.

3. Give back and contribute

What have you actually done for someone else lately — your partner, your team, your community? Look outward instead of inward. The more freely you give, the more abundant everything around you tends to become.

4. Practise gratitude, stop the endless chase

You can’t take any of it with you, so ask yourself why you’re still chasing more instead of appreciating what’s already here. Take what you need, not everything you want, and notice how much opportunity already surrounds you.

5. Take responsibility, drop the excuses

The moment you complain, you’ve handed away your own responsibility for the outcome. A lot of what’s wrong in this industry persists because nobody wants to own their part in it. Skip the blame game entirely and just deal with what’s in front of you.

6. Be a solutions person

Don’t give up, point fingers, or look away from a problem. Get feedback, find support, and work the issue until you find a way through it.

7. Build real vitality

Skipping proper food, movement and rest is a form of disrespecting yourself — and it shows up in how you drag through your days instead of running on real energy. There’s no good excuse for neglecting your health if it’s within your control.

8. Work with purpose

You get one life — don’t spend it doing work you don’t care about. Chasing your passion was never really about the outcome; it’s about doing the work itself, the way great artists create because they can’t not create, not because of the fame it might bring.

9. Live by design, not by default

Strip away what industry, tradition or expectation tells you life should look like, and ask what you’re actually living for. Are you building a life you’ll celebrate, or one you’ll eventually regret?

10. Leave a legacy

What will people say about you decades from now? Whose life have you actually changed? What example have you set? Are you leaving things better than you found them?

Becoming an awesome agent is an inside job. Do the work on the inside, and the results on the outside follow.
