“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” — Edmund Hillary

In May 2019 I trekked to Everest Base Camp with a group of real estate professionals. None of us summited anything technical. What broke people wasn’t the altitude on the day — it was the training they hadn’t done in the months before it. The mountain doesn’t care how motivated you feel on the morning you show up.

What’s the “training before the climb” you’ve been skipping in your own career?

Three Things That Actually Get You There

Every person who made it through that trek shared three things in common, and I’ve watched the same three things separate agents who make it in this industry from agents who don’t.

Feeling this one? You don’t have to figure it out alone — book a free High Performance Call and let’s talk through where you’re at.

  1. Preparation. Training your body, mind and emotions in advance, and building systems that create consistency long before you need it — not scrambling for structure once you’re already exhausted.
  2. Purpose. Knowing exactly why you’re doing this. Work done “just for the sake of it” runs out of fuel exactly when you need it most.
  3. Support. Building a crew — mentors, coaches, family, colleagues — instead of trying to summit alone. Nobody who made it to base camp did it solo, and nobody builds a real estate career solo either.

Take action: Pick one of the three — preparation, purpose or support — and name the specific gap in it you’ve been ignoring.

This is Radical Ownership applied to the long game: the climb is decided long before you’re on the mountain. Do the training now, and the summit takes care of itself.
